"I'm writing to urge you to vote tomorrow for my friend Peter Harckham, who has been one of the great environmental crusaders and an ally during his many years of public service. Pete brought nearly $11 million in water quality improvement funds to the district, as well as negotiated a groundbreaking septic management plan that will save taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars annually, while protecting our fragile aquifers. He also passed expanded plastics recycling legislation, an anti-idling law, and a number of clean energy, green job initiatives, to name just a few.

Right now Westchester County's environmental infrastructure, water supplies, and treasured parks and public places are under assault, as in no other time during my 30 years of environmental advocacy in the county.   The Astorino administration has aligned itself with the county's biggest polluters and developers and is systematically dismantling environmental enforcement and protection in Westchester.  Pete Harckham has been endorsed by the Sierra Club and the New York League of Conservation Voters, and has proved himself an ally on every environmental issue during his time in office.  

This race has become a critical spear point in Astorino's attack on Westchester's environment.  Peter Michaelis is a friend, but this time he has chosen the wrong side.  If you care about the environment of the county, clean water and open spaces vote for Peter Harckham."
